We are a husband and wife team that live on the Gold Coast in Queensland and have a daughter that was born in October 2007 and a son born in January 2009.
After thinking that we would always use disposable nappies because of the ease and convenience, our mind set soon changed when our daughter came along. The cost of raising children is not getting cheaper and with the cost of nappies, wipes, clothing, formula and many other things saving money is very important to every day families.
After being at the shops what felt like all the time purchasing disposable nappies, we decided that there had to be a better and more cost efficient way. In the first couple of months of our daughter's life, we went through 8-10 boxes of nappies which cost between $30-$38 a box. We then discovered modern cloth nappies and fell in love.
We found that there are so many benefits of using cloth nappies that we now use modern cloth nappies full time and would not go back to disposables.
Although the initial outlay of cloth nappies might seem alot, the long term gain and savings is what you will notice. The washing and caring for your modern cloth nappies is very simple and easy and does not take days and hours of soaking like they did in the old days.
